What BOS is
A brand operating system is one source of truth for a brand: its logos, colors, typography, and art direction, plus the guidelines and documents behind them, organized so that both people and AI agents can read and use it. BOS [Brand Operating System] is the one we build at open session: a brand portal that stores, manages, and extends brand data for humans and AI agents, with a built-in MCP server. It's next-generation brand context management, now in early release.
A DAM stores and organizes files so people can find them. BOS holds the semantic relationships between your brand data: how your logos, colors, typography, and guidelines relate to one another. That creates one source of truth that can easily extend and automate creative work, for your team and the AI tools it uses.
Businesses and teams that look after a brand, whether it's their own or several brands they manage for clients, and the AI agents that work alongside them. Each workspace belongs to a customer, usually a company or team, whose admins invite members and assign roles.
BOS is a product from open session (opens in a new tab). open session is a design company dedicated to providing free resources and building revolutionary products. Its founders are Karim Bouhdary (opens in a new tab) and Morgan MacKean (opens in a new tab).
How it works
You can store your brand's logos, colors, typography, and art direction, plus the documents behind them, such as guidelines, messaging, and strategy. We also score how much of your brand those documents cover and recommend how to fill the gaps, and Remi, the built-in AI assistant, answers questions about all of it.
Through its built-in MCP server. Once someone on your team allows it, an AI tool such as Claude or Cursor can read your brand's guidelines, documents, and assets. Workspace owners and admins can disconnect an AI tool at any time in Settings → Integrations.
Works with your tools
Yes. Claude connects to your brand as a custom connector through our MCP server. On claude.ai or in Claude Desktop, go to Customize → Connectors, click Add, then Add custom connector, and enter https://api.bos.live/mcp. Choose Register automatically when Claude asks about the OAuth client, then sign in, pick your brand, and click Authorize.
Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, with one on the Free plan; on Team and Enterprise, an owner adds the connector for the organization first.
Yes, on ChatGPT plans that allow custom MCP servers. In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server, enter https://api.bos.live/mcp, and choose OAuth for authentication; then sign in, pick your brand, and click Authorize.
Full MCP support is on Business, Enterprise, and Edu, where admins control who can add a server, and Pro can connect custom MCP servers with read and fetch permissions. It works on the web, not in the mobile apps.
Yes. Cursor supports remote MCP servers that ask you to sign in, so you can add ours directly. Add it from Cursor's Customize page, or add a server named bos with the URL https://api.bos.live/mcp to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project). Cursor then opens your browser to sign in; pick your brand and click Authorize.
If sign-in fails, update Cursor: older versions use a sign-in callback our server doesn't accept.
Yes, in the Gemini app, as a custom app. On a computer, go to gemini.google.com, open Settings → Connected Apps, choose Add a custom app under Custom apps, and enter https://api.bos.live/mcp; then sign in, pick your brand, and click Authorize. You add it on the web, and it then works in the Gemini mobile app too.
Custom apps are for personal Google accounts in the US, for people 18 and over, in English, with Keep Activity on; work and school accounts can't use them.
Yes, as a custom connector. On grok.com, go to Connectors, click New Connector, then Custom, and enter https://api.bos.live/mcp; then sign in, pick your brand, and click Authorize. xAI doesn't publish how its connectors sign in, so we haven't yet confirmed that Grok can sign in to our server. If a step fails, write to us at hello@opensession.co.
Connectors are available to all Grok users; on Grok Business and Enterprise, a team admin adds the connector before members can use it.
Yes, as a custom MCP connector in the Figma agent and Figma Make. In a chat's prompt box, click Add context, hover over Connectors, and select Manage; on the Created by you tab, click Create, name it BOS, enter https://api.bos.live/mcp, and click Create. Then click Connect, sign in, pick your brand, and click Authorize.
Custom connectors need a paid Figma plan, a Full seat (other seats can use them only in Drafts), and edit access to the file.
Data and security
No. We don't use your workspace content, or anything derived from it, to train or improve AI models. Our AI features run on models from our service providers and partners. They handle requests under their own terms, which may let them keep requests for a time and, for some of them, use requests to improve their models. Our privacy policy explains how your content reaches them.
Our goal is to make sure AI model companies aren't using your brand data. We're stewards of your data, and we do our best to work with all of our providers and across our infrastructure to reduce any exposure of it. We treat brand data like PII (personally identifiable information) and take it very seriously, which is why SOC 2 compliance is one of our top roadmap items.
Our main database and file storage are in the United States, run by our service providers. Some of our providers, including AI providers, may process content in other countries, as our privacy policy explains. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, access is role-based within each workspace, and private files are served through short-lived signed links. Items you delete are permanently deleted about 30 days later. Some related data, such as images attached to deleted chats, isn't removed automatically, and you can ask us to remove it. Copies in backups remain until those backups expire.
BOS is currently working on SOC 2 compliance. We're happy to provide more information on our timeline, penetration tests, and current status in our privacy and security program. Ask us at hello@opensession.co.
Founding users
Join the waitlist at bos.live/waitlist to become a founding user. We're in early release and invite people from the waitlist in stages. Signing up takes about two minutes, and we ask for your email, whose brand it is, and names for your workspace and brand.
Founding users join our founding-user Slack community, where they get direct access to our team and early feature previews, and connect with other brands building their own operating systems. When you're invited, our team sets up your workspace from the answers you gave on the waitlist.
Joining the waitlist is free, with no credit card required. We're still finalizing our pricing and terms. Contact our team to learn more.
If you're an early release user, we have specific contracts, compliance, and security we're working through, and we can share them with you individually. Just reach out.
